Leave England, Arrive in Durban…

It was standard morning, same as any other, wake up, work like a dog until someone, or something forces me to do something else… that something else was going to SA, but never fear i thought, i’d take the laptop, its only the 56k dial up i had to content with while over there…

We left my house a 1:30-2:00pm in the afternoon on Saturday, and boarded the plane for Johanasburg at around 8pm.

The plane flight wasn’t so bad, a skinny German guy next to us who didn’t say a word, and when we went to sleep, kindly swapped his isle seat for chloe’s window seat so i didn’t have to bother him when i kept getting up and down.

“YES DRILL SARGENT SIR”

The Plane films were okay, watched a nice little cartoon one about mice being flushed down the toilet, another one, ‘The Guardian’ with Kevin Costner as some retired US Coast Guard swimmer. It was heavily glorifying the coast guard, granted they do a very special, needy job, but it was very much ‘YES DRILL SARGENT SIR’ .. if you get what i mean. The final film was something with Jessica Simpson, ‘Employee of the Month’. . i never saw the end of it. Got bored.

I also managed to do a bit of work, Zago admin front page interface, editing of Agents and a few other bits a pieces before the battery ran out.

We landed in Joburg at around 6am local time, 4pm GMT, and i hadn’t slept a wink.
We boarded the plane for Durban at around 8am local time, 6pm GMT, still no sleep.

Finally we arrived in Durban…

Arrived in Durban around 9am local time and it was hot, the hot where you instantly go sweaty and clammy all over as soon as you leave the plane.

Here is a photo, in order, of Chloe, Denisa (who picked us up from the airport with her husband Patrick) and Mom (Gail)

While waiting for Patrick to pick us up i also spotted an unusual Mercedes. . .

usual mercedes small

Laster on in the day, having had a nap and tried to recover from my lack of sleep, we went for a little stroll round the local nature reserve…

Here is a dragon fly near the waters edge, it was difficult to get a closeup without them flying off so i have had to enlarge these significantly, hence the quality is a bit poor.

Me and chloe near the lake / waterfall

me and my love at the waterfall in zimbali

Another wierd looking bug, it was difficult to get a photo of his head because he was facing the otherway and the wood / tree’s were making the auto focus focus on them and not the bug

red bug on the tree

Next is a photo of a bat underneath the waterfall i saw, also there is ‘bundled’ spiders web hanging next to him.

wierd bat and web

Here are a few interesting plant shots…

typical thick leafed plant - a large one

another cool plant photo

The first plant shot above of the 2, i used some pieces of a leaf to make a table matt, which still works..

This next shot shows the typical zimbali scene with the woodland and the house embedded into it. .

Here are a few lake shots..

nice lake shot showing the houses aswell in the forest

Here is a *poor quality* pic showing the bamboo, its about 30-50 foot high, branches from as thick as your finger to as thick as your waist.

tall bamboo

Thats all for now, the’ll be more when i have some more photos.. comments will inspire me.
